Three schoolgirls have been admitted to the Suddie Hospital on the Essequibo Coast after one of them smoked marijuana and two others drank alcohol, a top health official has confirmed.

The schoolgirls, from the Anna Regina Secondary School, reportedly went to a nearby snackette and became so intoxicated that teachers had to be called.

They were then taken to the hospital where they were admitted.

One of the girls told the medical staff that she smoked marijuana while the two others said they used alcohol. One of the girls reportedly claimed they were given the items by a bus driver and a conductor and they became dizzy.

The girls had left home for school but did not show up there for the day.
