A Johanna South, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne Berbice man was severely beaten by a group of men who have all been arrested.
Gregory Bhola, 29, a labourer, is in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the New Amsterdam Hospital. His father, Errol Bhola told police that on Sunday last at about 17:45hrs, he was told that the five suspects were beating his son. The elder Bhola said he was on his way home from his farm and rushed to his son’s assistance.
Bhola told police that when he arrived at the scene, he saw the five men who were armed with a cutlass, an iron bar, and three with pieces of wood beating his son.
Errol further explained that when he inquired as to why the men were beating his son he was told to: “Stay out of the matter or else we will kill him.”
Errol was then told to kneel and after he refused, one of the men pushed him to the ground. His son was then taken into a nearby yard where the men continued to savagely beat him.
His father managed to get away and drove to the Mibicuri Police Station.
Gregory was first rushed to the Mibicuri Public Hospital and subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
On Monday, police received information that led to the five suspects being arrested at a bond yard in Port Mourant.
