National U-12 Chess championship to be held online
The Guyana Chess Federation will be hosting the National Under-12 Championships online on Saturday (January 15) with sponsorship from DeSinco Trading Limited, which has contributed G$150,000 to cover the cost of trophies and prizes.
This rapid championship will be hosted on the www.tornelo.com platform, with games beginning from 14:00h, the Federation has announced.
The tournament will feature seven rounds of play using the FIDE Swiss Pairing System with a time control of 15 minutes plus two second increment after each move. It will be open to all Guyanese chess players born after January 1, 2010.
Non-Guyanese nationals who have been living in Guyana for over one year are also eligible to participate, the Federation outlined.
Interested competitors can register on www.guyanachess.org. All registrations must be completed on Tornelo.com by Thursday (January 13). Players will compete in an Open division and a Girls category.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division as well as the best Under-10 and Under-8 players.
