Guyana’s overall confirmed COVID cases increased to 46, 005 after 665 new infections were recorded on Tuesday from 2, 181 tests.
Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) continues to record the highest number of infections daily and of the over 660 new cases, 457 were recorded in this region.
In addition to the new cases, three more COVID-19 related deaths were reported taking the total overall death toll to 1, 073. The new deaths also mean that 18 persons have died so far for January.

The other new infections were recorded in the following regions; Region One (two cases), Region Two (19 cases), Region Three (96 cases), Region Five (33 cases), Region Six (19 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Nine (18 cases) and Region Ten (20 cases).
Meanwhile, there are now 13 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit; 89 patients are in institutional isolation and 6, 538 persons are in home isolation.
To date, a total of 38, 292 people have recovered from the dreaded disease.
