COVID-19: Nearly 8,500 in home isolation; 13 in ICU
Guyana has broken its own record for the amount of COVID-19 infections recorded in one day; this time, 1,186 new cases in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday.
And these new cases were recorded from 3,186 tests, increasing the number of confirmed infections in Guyana since March 11, 2020 to 48,191.
These new infections were recorded in Region One (21 cases), Region two (19 cases), Region Three (93 cases), Region Four (501 cases), Region Five (69 cases), Region Six (142 cases), Region Seven (38 cases), Region Eight (six cases), Region Nine (76 cases) and Region 10 (221 cases).
Additionally, 13 patients are receiving critical care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while 121 people are in institutional isolation, eight people are in institutional quarantine and 8,413 people are in home isolation.
Importantly, a total of 38,569 people have recovered after they were infected with the disease.
No new deaths were recorded and so the overall death toll remains at 1,075 of which 20 died in January thus far.
