Four-Day warm-up: Bramble, Hemraj back for second practice match

Wicketkeeper/batsman Anthony Bramble and opener Chandrapaul Hemraj are back in contention for Guyana Harpy Eagles selection after improving on their fitness scores.

The contracted duo was left out of the first practice match due to fitness issues, but News Room Sport was reliably informed they made improvements at a test on Tuesday.

The second practice match commences Friday at the Albion Community Centre Ground, and according to a release from the Guyana Cricket Board, “This match was initially scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 12, but was rescheduled due to medical advice on COVID-19 health-related matters.”

GCB Territorial Development Officer, Colin Stuart had confirmed on Wednesday the match was pushed back due to a positive COVID-19 by a player.

Additionally, some of the players who participated in the first practice match which ended in a tame draw on Saturday were not selected for this match and a source indicated that some players did not meet fitness standards and also they are looking to give more players opportunities with the idea of making selection of the standout players for the final practice match.

The third and final practice match is from January 20-23 at a venue to be named.
