A 46-year-old man was on Monday remanded into prison as he awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to trafficking over four ounces of cannabis.

Haydock Archibald of West La Penitence, Georgetown appeared before City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus and admitted that on January 14, 2022, at Norton Street, Georgetown, he had 134 grams (4.7 ounces) of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

According to the facts presented in court by the police prosecutor, on the day in question, ranks attached to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), went to Norton Street and saw Archibald sitting in front of a building acting in a suspicious manner.

When confronted by the ranks, Archibald took them to a nearby empty lot and showed them where he hid a quantity of cannabis.

When cautioned, Archibald allegedly told the ranks, “Is Yankee I does sell weed for.”

The unrepresented man told the Magistrate that he does not want to waste the court’s time as he pleaded for leniency.

Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus ordered that a probation report be done on Archibald. Sentencing is deferred to February 7, 2022.
