    Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 1, 122 after eleven more persons died between January 19 and 21.

    The majority of the deaths were recorded in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica); four were unvaccinated, one partially vaccinated and the vaccination status for the others is unknown.

    With these latest deaths, a total of 67 persons have died for January thus far.

    Meanwhile, a total of 892 cases were reported from a record 4, 109 tests within the past 24-hrs. This means that 55, 628 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since March 2020.

    The following regions recorded new cases; Region One (eight cases), Region Two (12 cases), Region Three (146 cases), Region Four (487 cases), Region Five (33 cases), Region Six (117 cases), Region Seven (26 cases), Region Nine (35 cases) and Region Ten (28 cases).

    There are 19 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 160 are in institutional isolation and 12, 314 are in home isolation.

    To date, 42, 013 people have recovered from the dreaded virus.
