Eight more die from COVID, 957 new infections recorded
Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 1, 130 with eight more COVID-19 related deaths recorded between January 20 and 22.
Four of the eight deaths were recorded in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) with one person passing away at home.
Four of the persons who died were unvaccinated, two were fully vaccinated, one was partially vaccinated and the vaccination status for the other is unknown.
With these latest deaths, a total of 75 persons have died for January thus far.

Meanwhile, a total of 957 cases were recorded by the Ministry of Health on Saturday from a record 3, 742 tests within the past 24-hrs. This means that 56, 585 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since March 2020.
The following regions recorded new cases; Region One (44 cases), Region Two (31 cases), Region Three (123 cases), Region Four (535 cases), Region Five (44 cases), Region Six (67 cases), Region Seven (18 cases), Region Eight (60 cases), Region Nine (20 cases) and Region Ten (15 cases).
There are 16 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 177 are in institutional isolation and 13, 050 are in home isolation.
To date, 42, 121 people have recovered from the dreaded virus.
