One arrested as CANU intercepts boat with 60lbs ganja in Berbice
One person was arrested on Friday after ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) intercepted a speed boat with a large quantity of marijuana onboard.
CANU in a statement said the bust occurred at the 8-mile junction in the Canje, Berbice District, Region Six.
The CANU ranks were at the time conducting a narcotics operation. These operations are part of CANU’s efforts to reduce narcotics trafficking in the district.
The lone person who was apprehended was subsequently escorted to CANU Headquarters with the speed boat and the suspected narcotic, which was tested and determined to be cannabis weighing 27 kg (60 lbs.).
