10 COVID deaths; over 300 new cases, 20 in ICU

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 1, 148 with ten additional deaths recorded between January 22 and 25. With these latest deaths, a total of 93 persons have died for January thus far.

Three of the persons who died were unvaccinated; two were fully vaccinated; one was partially vaccinated and the others’ vaccination status is unknown.

The details on the persons who died are as follow;

Meanwhile, 372 new COVID infections were recorded from 1, 521 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases since March 2020 to 57, 772.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (31 cases), Region Two (25 cases), Region Three (31 cases), Region Four (140 cases), Region Five (27 cases), Region Six (16 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Eight (three cases), Region Nine (86 cases) and Region Ten (14 cases).

There are 20 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 163 are in institutional isolation and 12, 682 are in home isolation.

To date, 43, 759 people have recovered from the virus.
