A 46-year-old Jamaican national was on Tuesday arrested at a cannabis farm at Nabaclis Village backlands, East Coast Demerara by ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU).
A press release from CANU noted that ranks acted on a tip-off and visited the area when they discovered a camp on a half-acre of land along with a total of 4,000 – 5,000 cannabis plants and seedlings; processed cannabis; one kilogram of mixed seeds; a shotgun; a crossbow with several arrows and several types of live ammunition – 31 (9mm), 12 (45) and four (12 gauge) cartridges.
The Jamaican national, identified as 46-year-old Winston Thompson who resides at Victoria Village, was discovered in the camp, according to CANU.
“He was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters, along with weapons, ammunition, processed cannabis, and seeds,” the CANU release noted.
