The Guyana Tennis Association has welcomed what it deems “the amplified allocation of funds” for sport in the 2022 Budget, presented by Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh.

In his presentation on Wednesday at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Dr. Singh announced that G$2.2 billion has been allocated for sport, the biggest allocation ever for the sector, surpassing the G$1.5 billion in 2021.

Below is a statement by the Guyana Boxing Association

The Guyana Tennis Association (GTA) welcomes the amplified allocation of funds in the 2022 Budget to further enhance sport in Guyana.

The Hon. Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr. Charles Ramson, the National Sports Commission, and the GTA have engaged in meaningful discourses recently to create pathways to enhance facilities, players, and coach education in our sport.

Therefore, the Guyana Tennis Association is optimistic that tennis will continue to benefit from government funding to achieve our 2022 goals and objectives.
