    Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 1, 154 with six additional deaths recorded between January 22 and 26.

    With these latest deaths, a total of 99 persons have died for January thus far.
    Four of the persons who died were unvaccinated and the other two were fully vaccinated.

    The details on the persons who died are as follows;

    Meanwhile, 424 new infections were recorded from 3, 088 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases since March 2020 to 58, 196.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (35 cases), Region Two (27 cases), Region Three (38 cases), Region Four (211 cases), Region Five (16 cases), Region Six (46 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Nine (46 cases) and Region 10 (four cases).

    There are 19 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit; 166 are in institutional isolation and 12, 762 are in home isolation. To date, 44, 095 people have recovered from the virus.
