BUDGET 2022: GFF President lauds ‘unprecedented and historic investment in sport’
Press Release by the Guyana Football Federation President Wayne Forde
The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) wishes to congratulate the Government of Guyana for the historic budgetary allocation to sport.
This I believe is a clear and convincing signal of the Government’s determined intentions to invest in the lives of our young people.
I would like commend Minister Charles Ramson and his team for the thoughtful work that resulted in this unprecedented and historic investment in sport.
The GFF has built a very sturdy partnership with the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport, which has enable us to align our strategic priorities for the growth and development of football.
These priorities are:
1. Infrastructure development- (the upgrade of community grounds)
2. Competition – the staging of established competitions and the creation of new grassroots community tournaments
3. School football – the establishment of a nationwide Primary and Secondary school football programme
4. Capacity building – investing in Coaching education, football administration, officiating and Governance.
I look forward to working with the Honourable Minister in the coming months as he facilitates government’s continued assistance to realise our common goals in 2022.
