A horrific four-vehicle accident on the western end of the Mahaica Bridge, East Coast Demerara on Wednesday has claimed the lives of at least two persons thus far.
When contacted by the News Room, Police Commander Kurleigh Simon confirmed the deaths but was unable to provide more details.
The News Room understands that the accident involved a police van, a silver-grey fielder wagon, a canter truck, and another vehicle that was wrecked beyond repair.
From videos circulating on social media, firefighters, with the help of public-spirited persons, are at the scene attempting to remove one of the victims stuck within the wreckage,
Medical technicians were also seen removing injured victims from the fielder wagon.
It is unclear at this time what caused the accident.
