Police seeking help in identifying body found at Better Hope

Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a male body that was found in the South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara area on February 2 at about 14:05hrs.

Ten minutes before the discovery, an anonymous caller had contacted the Sparendaam Police Station via telephone and reported that a corpse was seen.

Upon arrival at the location, police saw the body of a male of African descent laying naked on his back, with severe sunburn.

The cops were told that the man is known to do odd jobs in the area and is of no fixed place of abode.

“The body was examined and a decomposed open wound measuring six inches was observed on the left thigh. The body was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where Dr. Jagjit pronounced it dead on arrival,” the police release noted.

The body was later escorted to the Memorial Funeral Home awaiting identification and an autopsy.
