Police are investigating the armed robbery of a 34-year-old housewife who was awakened from her sleep by two bandits at her Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo house in the wee hours of Thursday.
The woman told police that she woke up after hearing strange sounds at around 02:00hrs and was confronted by the two men who were at her bedside armed with a gun.
The woman said she became fearful and handed over $500,000 in cash. The suspects then escaped in an unknown direction.
