    Three more persons have succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 virus, increasing Guyana’s death toll since March 2020 to 1,179.

    The Ministry of Health reported on Friday that the three victims were all male and were unvaccinated.

    They are:

    – a 61-year-old of Region Three who died on February 3

    – an 82-year-old of Region Four who also died on February 3

    – a 71-year-old also of Region Four who died on February 4

    This means that nine persons have died in February thus far.

    Meanwhile, 432 new infections were recorded from 2,448 tests, increasing the country’s overall confirmed cases to 61,108.

    The cases emerged from: Region One (21 cases), Region Two (five cases), Region Three (28 cases), Region Four (196 cases), Region Five (12 cases), Region Six (65 cases), Region Seven (five cases), Region Eight (one case), Region Nine (97 cases) and Region 10 (two cases).

    There are also 14 patients receiving critical care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 138 people are in institutional isolation, 18 people are in institutional quarantine and 5,537 people are in home isolation.

    Importantly, a total of 54,240 people have recovered after they were infected with the disease.
