Residents have recovered the body of Lakeram Kuber of Wakenaam, Essequibo, Region Three. The 54-year-old man went missing after the boat he was in capsized on Thursday night.
Kuber was a businessman and a father of two children. Relatives are still coming to grips with the tragedy. The body was taken to the Wakenaam Cottage Hospital and officially pronounced dead.
Kuber along with the boat’s captain, Feroze Amin, and another man, Floyd Dazzell were returning from Supenaan on the Essequibo Coast when the boat capsized. The men were in a 100 HP Yamaha outboard engine.
The men decided to swim to the Wakenaam shore, but only Dazzell and Amin made it there safely. Police Headquarters had reported that the incident occurred at about 23:00hrs along the Essequibo River.
