Region Two woman is latest COVID death; over 200 new infections

A 57-year-old woman from Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death. The woman, who was unvaccinated, died on February 04, the Ministry of Health reported. This means that 10 persons have died in February thus far, while overall a total of 1,180 have died since March 2020.

Meanwhile, 296 new infections were recorded from a total of 1,302 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases to date to 61,404.

The news cases were recorded in the following regions: Region One (34 cases), Region Two (13 cases), Region Three (30 cases), Region Four (72 cases), Region Five (11 cases), Region Six (29 cases), Region Seven (nine cases), Region Eight (38 cases), Region Nine (59 cases) and Region Ten (one case).

There are 14 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 127 in institutional isolation and 5,343 in home isolation.

To date, 54,740 people have recovered from the dreaded virus.
