Man falls to death from Mahaicony house

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 64-year-old Omrowa Shamlall called ‘Bunta’ who died on Friday last after falling from a house at Yorkshire Hall, Drill, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

Police Headquarters revealed that Shamlall resided at Non Pariel, ECD and was employed as a labourer by his cousin Totaram Piralall, who is a businessman.

The businessman told the police that on the day in question, he was at his worksite when he heard one of his workmen scream.

He later found out that the victim fell from a beam on the house. Shamlall was rushed to the Mahaicony Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The house was under construction at the time of the incident.
