    Three men die from COVID, 118 new cases recorded

    Three men from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) have been recorded as Guyana’s latest COVID-19 fatalities, the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday.

    Their vaccination statues are unknown, according to the government.

    Those who died are:

    A 79-year-old man who died on January 30

    A 52-year-old who died on February 03

    And a 44-year-old who died on February 07

    The death toll for January is now 116 while the death toll for February has increased to 14 and the overall number of fatalities since March 2020 is 1, 184.

    Meanwhile, 118 new COVID infections were recorded from a total of 1, 149 tests, taking the confirmed cases to 61, 734.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (21 cases), Region Two (two cases), Region Three (two cases), Region Four (29 cases), Region Five (six cases), Region Six (18 cases), Region Eight (five cases) and Region Nine (35 cases).

    There are 16 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 102 are in institutional isolation and 4, 055 are in home isolation.

    To date, 56, 376 people have recovered from the virus.
