    Three more persons have died from the dreaded COVID-19 virus increasing Guyana’s death toll to 1,193, the Ministry of Health reported on Saturday.

    The latest victims were all women: a fully vaccinated 49-year-old from Region Four who died on February 12; an unvaccinated 57-year-old from Region Ten who died on February 11 and an unvaccinated 80-year-old also from Region Ten who died on February 10.

    With those deaths, February’s death toll has increased to 22.

    Meanwhile, 65 new infections were also recorded from 888 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 62, 221.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (five cases), Region Two (three cases), Region Three (nine cases), Region Four (11 cases), Region Five (11 cases), Region Six (17 cases), Region Seven (two cases) and Region Nine (seven cases).

    There are 11 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 78 are in institutional isolation and 1,927 are in home isolation.

    To date, 59, 012 have recovered from the virus.
