COVID: Reg. 2 man is latest fatality, 34 new cases, 10 in ICU

A 57-year-old man from Region Two was recorded as Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death on Sunday taking the country’s overall death toll to 1,194.

He died on February 12 and according to the Ministry of Health, his vaccination status is unknown.

The latest fatality has increased February’s death toll to 23.

Meanwhile, 34 new infections were also recorded from 447 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 62, 255.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (two cases), Region Three (17 cases), Region Four (10 cases), Region Five (two cases), Region Six (one case), Region Seven (one case) and Region Nine (one case).

There are 10 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 80 people are in institutional isolation and 1,850 are in home isolation.

To date, 59, 121 have recovered from the virus.
