    Two more persons have died from the dreaded COVID-19 virus, increasing Guyana’s overall death toll to 1,196, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.

    The latest victims were a fully vaccinated 70-year-old man from Region Five who died on February 14 and a 54-year-old woman of Region Three who died on February 13. Her vaccination status is unknown.

    Those deaths have now increased February’s death toll to 25.

    Meanwhile, 10 new infections were recorded from 280 tests, increasing the country’s overall confirmed cases to 62,265.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (one case), Region Two (one case), Region Three (one case), Region Four (three cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (two cases) and Region Eight (one case).

    There are nine patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 81 people are in institutional isolation and 1,581 are in home isolation.

    To date, 59, 398 have recovered from the virus.
