Lexroy Garraway known as ‘Bam-Bam’ on Tuesday confessed to stabbing his drinking buddy Eric Nurse called ‘Black Boy’ to death during an argument at Takatu Landing, Mazaruni River on May 23, 2019.

Garraway, 39, of Enterprise, Lower Pomeroon appeared before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the Suddie High Court via Zoom to answer the charge of murder but he opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

The State was represented by Prosecutor Tiffini Lyken while Garraway was represented by attorney-at-law Latchmi Dindayal.

Garraway will return to court on March 8, 2022, for the presentation of a probation report before he is sentenced.

According to reports, Garraway and Nurse were consuming alcohol together at a shop located along Takatu Landing during which Garraway left and went into the living quarters of a female employee and hid.

The woman was startled upon entering the room and raised an alarm when Nurse went to her rescue. Nurse pulled Garraway out of the room and an argument ensued during which he stabbed him several times about the body.

Nurse was discovered lying in a pool of blood and was rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Garraway was later arrested and allegedly confessed that he stabbed Nurse because he tore his shirt.
