The Duty-Free Shop at the Umana Yana in Kingston, Georgetown, will be opened to the general public on Friday but items will be sold at the local market prices for those who want to purchase.
This is according to the Guyana Manufacturing and Services (GSMA) which announced in a press release on Thursday that the facility will be opened from 12:00hrs to 23:00hrs to the general public.
The Duty-Free Shop was established as an added attraction to the ongoing International Energy Conference.
Entry will be free of charge and only vaccinated persons will be permitted with a mandatory face mask rule in place.
The shop was also created to also foster relationships among agro-processors, local manufacturing, and services organizations with the delegates of the 2022 International Energy Conference and Expo in an effort to build stronger relations.
And with support from the government and the Private Sector Commission (PSC), the duty-free zone was able to ensure exposure of the true Guyanese taste and culture to international delegates.
