Fully vaccinated woman, 77, dies from COVID; 72 cases recorded 

A 77-year-old woman of Region Six (Corentyne-Berbice) who was fully vaccinated has died from the dreaded COVID-19 virus, increasing Guyana’s overall death toll to 1,203.

The Ministry of Health reported on Thursday that the woman died on February 16. Now, 32 persons have died in February.

Meanwhile, 72 new infections were recorded from 1,026 tests, increasing the country’s overall confirmed cases to 62,537.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (nine cases), Region Two (six cases), Region Three (three cases), Region Four (42 cases), Region Six (five cases), Region Nine (17 cases) and Region 10 (one case).

There are now 10 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 84 people are in institutional isolation and 1,084 are in home isolation.

To date, 60, 300 have recovered from the virus.
