Sunil Narine starred with both bat and ball to spur Comilla Victorians to victory over Fortune Barishal in the final of the Bangladesh Premier League on Friday in Mirpur.

Fresh off a 13-ball fifty in the last game, opener Narine cracked another belligerent half-century and produced a miserly spell to lead Victorians to a one-run victory.

Victorians’ 151-9 was built on 57 off 23 balls from Narine, who struck five fours and five sixes. Such was his dominance that the left-hander was dismissed in the sixth over with 69 runs on the board.

They slipped to 95-6 by the 11th over, before Moeen Ali propped up the innings with 38 off 32 balls.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Shafiqul Islam took two wickets each for Barishal, who slipped from 79-1 in the 10th over to lose by the narrowest of margins.

They ended on 150-8 with Shykat Ali making 58 off 34 (11x4s, 1×6) and Chris Gayle 33 off 31 (1×4, 2x6s).

Off-spinner Narine bowled 16 dot balls in his four-over spell, claiming 2-15, while Tanvir Islam had 2-25.

Not surprisingly, Narine was named Man-of-the-Match.
