Warrican stars as Pride beat Scorpions by 10 wickets

Barbados Pride completed a 10-wicket win over Jamaica Scorpions to remain unbeaten in the Regional Four-Day Championship on Friday at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.

Set a target of 41 in the dying stages of the final day, Pride reached the target in 9.4 overs with openers Shayne Moseley unbeaten on 34 (35 balls; 7x4s) and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite on seven (23 balls).

Jamaica Scorpions, resuming the day on 56-1 and looking to clear off a deficit of 193, were dismissed for 233 during the final session.

Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican was the main wicket-taker, claiming 6-78 off 30 overs, as Scorpions slipped from a relative position of comfort at 174-4.

Test batsman Jermaine Blackwood topscored with 61, Jamie Merchant made 47, Nkrumah Bonner 37 and Paul Paulmer 33.

The match was a memorable one for Brathwaite, who scored a marathon 276, his 25th First-Class hundred in his 180th game. His career-best knock spanned 10 hours.
