Police are on the hunt for three bandits who invaded the Mon Repos market on the East Coast of Demerara in broad daylight and robbed a jewellery stall.

Police Headquarters revealed that the robbery occurred at around 09:40hrs on Monday and was committed against a 46-year-old jeweller.

According to investigators, the three perpetrators broke the showcase and began removing the jewellery.

The lone employee, who was present at the time, raised an alarm and one of the perpetrators whipped out a handgun and discharged a round in his direction. He was, however, not harmed.

This caused the employee to run for cover and the perpetrators then escaped.

Police are currently searching for the perpetrators as the investigations continue.
