Girl, 11, nursing head injuries following accident at Thomas Lands

An 11-year-old girl identified as Sameera Abrahim-Williams is in serious condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after she was struck down by a car (PVV 3314) on Monday along Thomas Lands in the vicinity of Queen’s College, Georgetown at about 16:10hrs.

A police press release noted that the young girl of East Street, North Cummingsburg, Georgetown, reportedly ran into the path of the car.

The car was being driven by Trisann Fraser, 27, of Prashad Nagar, Georgetown.

Police said Fraser was reportedly attempting to pass a parked car on the road when the child ran into his path.

“As a result, the right side front portion of the motorcar collided with the child pedestrian causing her to fall onto to the road surface where she received injuries about her body,” the release noted.

The young girl was picked up in a conscious condition and transported by ambulance to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she is admitted for injuries to the head.

Police said a notice of intended prosecution was served on the driver of the car as investigations continue.
