The National Sports Commission (NSC) in collaboration with the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will host a three-day Mashramani tournament, which commences on Republic Day at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. The Tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, then Saturday and Sunday.

The categories will range from Under-9 for boys and girls to Under-19s in the Junior category, while there will be B and C Class Opens, along with Men and Women Singles.

Seeding for all the events will be done based on results of placing in the last national championship or domestic competitions in the first instance, or according to international ranking if currently available for players who did not participate in domestic tournaments or the last rank of a player in the previous competition.

The tournament committee will determine the system of play based on the number of entries using an approach of knockout using best-of-seven, or first stage round-robin basis in groups of even-numbered players, but there shall not be less than three and not more than five players in a group and priority will be given to groups of four players.

If there are five or fewer players, the event will be played as a round-robin without knockout. Two players advance from each group to the second stage, which will be played in a knockout format.

Entry fees, which range from G$500 to G$1,000, must be paid to enter this event and any other GTTA sanctioned event for 2022.

Over the past weekends, the GTTA hosted its Junior and Senior National Championships in preparation for the Senior Caribbean Championship in Cuba early next month.
