Man, 62, dies from COVID, 19 new cases recorded

A 62-year-old man of Region Four, whose vaccination status is unknown, was recorded as Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death.

The Ministry of Health said on Thursday that the man died on February 23, increasing the country’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 1,216. February has now recorded 45 deaths.

Meanwhile, 19 new infections were recorded from a total of 379 tests, increasing the total confirmed cases to 62,789.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (one case), Region Two (one case), Region Three (three cases), Region Four (eight cases), Region Five (two cases) and Region Six (four cases).

There are seven patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit; 52 are in institutional isolation and 712 are in home isolation. To date, 60, 811 people have recovered from the virus.
