An accident between two trucks on the Yarrowkabra Public Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway on Thursday afternoon resulted in the death of Jomo Benjamin, a porter.
Police have arrested 48-year-old Jerome Daniel Paddy of One Mile, Wismar, Linden who was driving motor lorry GXX 2366 which collided into GYY 6745 at around 15:10hrs.
Police Headquarters reported that Paddy was speeding north along the western side of the road and overtaking a line of traffic when the left side front collided with the right side of GYY 6745 which was proceeding in the same direction but was turning east into Yarrowkabra Pump Road.
As a result of the collision, Benjamin, who was jn the tray of GYY 6745, fell out of the vehicle and was ran over by Paddy’s truck.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead.
The body was later transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Parlour and awaiting a post mortem.
