$25,000 bail for women who assaulted, chopped Port Mourant woman
The two women who attacked, assaulted and chopped another woman of Freeyard, Port Mourant, Berbice on Sunday, was charged and granted $25,000 bail each on Thursday.
Vashanie Cyrel, 20, a housewife called “Dede” and Malissa Edwin, 26, a housewife called “Mello” of Freeyard Port Mourant, Corentyne, appeared at the Whim Magistrate Court and was charged with unlawful wounding committed on Amrita Singh.
The women were not required to plea and are set to return to court on April, 04, 2022 for report.
The incident which was caught on video by an onlooker, showed the women, one armed with a cutlass approaching Singh while she was walking with her bicycle on the street.
One of the women rushed towards her and slapped her across the head, while the other, advanced with a cutlass in hand and pelted a chop which connected with Singh’s scalp.
Singh collapsed while screaming in pain and the women ran away from the scene. They were subsequently arrested. Singh is nursing a chop wound to the head which she sustained during the attack.
