Man arrested for beating another with gun, discharging weapon

Police have arrested a man who reportedly gun-butted another and fired several shots at him on Sunday night at the Parika Fisheries Compound, East Bank Essequibo.

Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at around 23:30hrs.

The victim alleged that the perpetrator approached him and enquired about the whereabouts of another man but after he was ignored, the suspect became angry and pulled out what appeared to be a .38 revolver.

He used the weapon to hit the victim to his face; police reported that the victim ran away during which he heard three loud explosions like gunshots.

A report was made to the Parika Police Station and acting on information, ranks went to a Parika Stelling Road property where the suspect was apprehended. He remains in custody as further investigations continue.
