An 18-year-old labourer was on Monday remanded to prison for the attempted murder committed of a 15-year-old schoolboy.
Claudius James appeared before City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus and was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that on February 22, 2022, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown, he unlawfully wounded the teenager with intent to commit murder.
According to reports, both parties are known to each other and had previous issues.
On the day in question, there was an altercation between the two during which the teenager was stabbed to his chest.
The prosecutor objected to James being released on bail since the victim is still hospitalised. The Magistrate upheld the objection and remanded James to prison until March 21, 2022.
