Two die from COVID; 25 new cases recorded

Two fully vaccinated persons from Region Four (Demerara – Mahaica) are Guyana’s latest COVID-19 deaths, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday.

An 86-year-old woman died on March 1 and an 83-year-old man died on March 2. These are the only two people who have died in March thus far while a total of 1, 222 persons have died since March 2020.

Meanwhile, 25 new cases were recorded from 1, 428 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 62, 971.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (three cases), Region Two (three cases), Region Three (one case), Region Four (10 cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (four cases) and Region Nine (three cases).

There are currently eight patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 25 patients are in institutional isolation and 389 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 61, 327 people have recovered from the virus.
