Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the brazen robbery of a Chinese supermarket at Cumberland, East Canje Berbice on Wednesday night.
The News Room understands that two masked men, armed with guns, attacked the Good Life supermarket at approximately 19:30 hrs; they demanded cash from the Chinese proprietors.
Customers who were in the supermarket at the time were also relieved of their cash.
Regional Commander Boodnarine Persaud confirmed that $100,000 in cash was stolen from the supermarket and $21,000 in cash was stolen from a customer.
No one was hurt during the robbery. The senior cop said that the police are in possession of CCTV footage and are continuing their investigations.
