Britton unbeaten; wins also for Edghill, Franklin, Cummings and Van Lange

Former Caribbean Under-21 Singles champion Shemar Britton played unbeaten on Saturday, the opening day of Singles competition at the Senior Caribbean Table Tennis Championship in Cuba.

Britton won both his games in the Men’s category, defeating Brayon Azor of Haiti 3-0 and the highly-touted Isaac Villa of the Dominican Republic 3-1.

Also recording a victory on Saturday were Olympian Chelsea Edghill, reigning national champion Christopher Franklin, Natalie Cummings and senior debutant Jonathon Van Lange.

Men’s Singles (in order of play)

Christopher Franklin defeated Mackentoche Paul of Haiti 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 11-4)

Jonathan Van Lange lost 3-2 (11-8, 13-11, 3-11, 1-11, 11-13) to Tyrese Knight of Barbados

Miguel Wong lost 3-0 (5-11, 8-11, 5-11) to Richard Pietri of Puerto Rico

Shemar Britton defeated Brayon Azor of Haiti 3-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-9)

Christopher Franklin lost 3-0 (10-12, 10-12, 12-14) to Samuel Galvez of the Dominican Republic

Shemar Britton defeated Isaac Vila of the Dominican Republic 3-1 (11-5, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8)

Jonathon Van Lange defeated Khaleel Asgarali of Trinidad and Tobago 3-1 (14-12, 12-10, 9-11, 11-7)

Miguel Wong lost 3-0 (5-11, 7-11, 4-11) to Kane Watson of Jamaica

Priscilla Greaves lost 3-0 (2-11, 5-11, 5-11) to Daniely Rios of Puerto Rico

Natalie Cummings defeated Tsenaye of Jamaica 3-0 (11-4, 12-10, 11-4)

Chelsea Edghill defeated Anthonette Riley of Barbados 3-0 (11-6, 11-5, 11-6)

Natalie Cummings lost 3-0 (6-11, 3-11, 8-11) to Idalys Lovet of Cuba

Chelsea Edghill lost 3-1 (5-11, 11-6, 6-11, 8-11) to Fabiola Diaz of Puerto Rico
