Active COVID-19 cases down to 277

The number of active COVID-19 cases continue to steadily decline and now stand at 277, according to Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony.

Dr Anthony noted that the majority of the cases are in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) with 143. There are currently 19 patients hospitalised with 18 at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and five in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

There are 21 cases in Region Eight; 20 in Region Two and 18 in Region One.

Dr Anthony continues to urge persons to get vaccinated against the dreaded virus.

Currently, 83.6 per cent of the adult population received their first dose and 64.5 per cent received their second dose vaccine.

The vaccine rollout in children aged 12 to 17 is now at 46.2 per cent for the first dose and 33.5 per cent for the second dose. Booster doses are gradually increasing with a total of 52, 688 shots administered thus far.
