A 26-year-old security guard of Wismar, Linden is in a serious condition after he was attacked by two unidentified men armed with cutlasses in the wee hours of Thursday.
Swayn David, who is attached to the St Aiden’s Primary School in Wismar, was chopped several times during the attack. Police Headquarters reported that the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
David was attacked at about 04:30hrs; he was sleeping in the guard and was awakened by one of the suspects chopping him to the back of his head.
Police said he was then chopped to the forehead and while escaping from the hut, he was confronted by the other suspect who chopped him on the left hand.
He told police that he managed to run away and went to the Wismar Hospital Complex.
He was later transferred to the Mackenzie Hospital and subsequently the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
