Man destined for Barbados nabbed with $7M in poppy weed

Ranks of the Customs Anti -Narcotic Unit (CANU) stationed at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport on Saturday intercepted a Barbados bound passenger with some 40.4 pounds of cannabis.

CANU said that the luggage of 45-year-old Elvis Fitzgerald Theusday of Hunter Street, Albouystown was searched and 23 parcels of suspected cannabis was found.

He was then arrested and taken to CANU headquarters where the cannabis was weighed and confirmed to be poppy weed. It carries a street value of GY$7 million.
