Two young men died in a horrific accident at the Borlam Turn, Corentyne Berbice in Region Six on Tuesday morning and an eyewitness said that two cars were speeding at the time when one slammed head-on into a truck.

Dead are Latchman Sukhan and Danny Puran. The News Room understands that Puran was a security guard attached to a food court at Albion, Corentyne Berbice while Sukhan operated a wash bay at Whim.

Suresh Matthews, the porter of the truck involved in the accident, told the News Room that the truck was heading west when the driver saw two cars in the opposite direction racing – a black Fielder Wagon and a ‘Blue Bird’.

The driver of the truck slowed down at the turn when the Fielder Wagon flew past him but the ‘Blue Bird’ which Sukhan was driving, crashed head-on into the truck at around 03:00hrs.

Matthews said that Puran was in the front passenger seat. While the front of the truck is damaged, the car is wrecked beyond repair.

The News Room understands that it was only about three months ago that Sukhan’s father died from COVID-19.
