Relatives of a 10-year-old boy from Silver City, Wismar, Linden, is seeking the public’s assistance to secure funds for him to undergo a life-saving heart surgery.

Dilon Edwards was born with an enlarged heart that has worsened over the years; he now requires oxygen 24/7.

His mother Roxanne Orna-Edwards told the News Room on Thursday that he developed the disease four years ago, but four months ago his condition worsened with a tear in the heart.

“Three days ago they say [the heart] tear more and if we don’t do the surgery by this month’s end, he is going to pass away,” the mother explained.

The mother of six explained that the family has been struggling to care for the young boy, especially since he has been in and out of the hospital.

The boy’s father is from Holland and relatives there have been trying to get him to that country for the surgery to be done. But the News Room understands that the surgery can also be done in Guyana.

Orna-Edwards revealed that they are trying to raise US$11,000 for the surgery.

“It is tough, I get a baby and can’t even nurse she, I gotta deh up and down…but I am still trying, but as long as Dillon lives, I am trying,” the mother said.
