A businessman, who the police identified as Imran Khan, was arrested on Friday for allegedly discharging his firearm in a public place.
The incident occurred at about 22:15hrs at Canal #2 West Bank Demerara.
The 57-year-old licensed firearm holder is a farmer and was reportedly seen shooting off his 12-gauge shotgun.
He denied the allegation but police said upon checking, they discovered an empty shell on the property which is within 200 meters of the public space.
He was escorted to the police station and the firearm and spent shell ceased.
