Two persons are now dead following an accident on the Number 70 Public Road on Friday night.

Dead is Tony Lakeram, 20, a Carpenter of No.71 Village and a female pillion rider who is said to be his girlfriend. She is yet to be identified.

The News Room understands that the unknown vehicle was speeding north along the western drive lane and collided with the pedestrians and continued on its journey at around 23:20hrs.

An aunt of the dead man, Monica Narine, 47, told the News Room that they received a telephone call that her nephew was involved in an accident.

She said when they ventured to the scene, the victims were already transported to the Skeldon Hospital.

According to Narine, Lakeram left home Friday morning to celebrate Phagwah but he did not go with his motorcycle.

The bodied are at the Skeldon Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination. Police are seeking the help of citizens who may be able to provide any information about the motor vehicle involved in the deadly hit and run to come forward as inquiries are in progress.
