Missing girl, 18, found with hair cut off, burns, bruises on body
An 18-year-old girl who was reportedly kidnapped was found alive with her hair cut off and bruises and burns about her body on Tuesday.
The girl, who is from the East Bank of Demerara, disappeared after she traveled to Georgetown on Monday to transact some business at the bank for her family.
Relatives told the News Room that the teen was found at about 06:30hrs on Tuesday at the Kitty Seawalls.
Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Police Force Stan Gouveia confirmed to the News Room that the matter is being investigated. Gouviea said the teen is also being given medical attention.
“She got marks of violence about her body, she got burns on her foot, they cut out her hair, like they beat her,” a relative told the News Room.
The young girl told relatives that all she remembers is someone putting a bag over her face and driving away with her.
After relatives could not make contact with her, they began frantically searching and filed a missing person’s report at the Brickdam Police Station.
